Operationally and Logistically Battle tanks (i.e. Abrams) don't make much sense in the current theater of battle. Lighter vehicles have more transport options than MBTs and wheeled vehicles, which can easily maneuver through urban areas in peace support operations, could offer MBT equivalent firepower.
